Brand in review: Dollbe Ok, I'm back with another long-awaited post. A LOT has happened since I wrote my last post. I got married, went back to university, and got a new job, so I have only had a little spare time to write a blog post. However, life events aside, I am back with another brand in review. This time, Dollbe. A long time ago, I bought a deer accessory at a convention I went to, however did not have a dress to wear it with or coordinate it with. However, I had been following Dollbe on Facebook and Instagram and decided to browse her website. Whilst browsing, I come across a dress with deer on it, I fell in love. It come in two colour ways- sax and pink. I got the sax colour.  Dollbe is also really inclusive when it comes to accommodating to plus size ladies and has a range of sizes and waist types to choose from- empire and natural waist. It had a really easy-to-follow sizing guide and got my desired size. The JSK I got was m

Brand In Review: Lady Sloth

Image
Welcome to first of my review series on plus size friendly Lolita Brands. Today's brand in review is Lady Sloth (LS). I first discovered Lady Sloth back in 2014 when I first got into Lolita Fashion. At the time I was just a looker and did not buy any of her products. Fast forward to 2017, I was in Japan, Lady Sloth released a print called "Welcome to my Doll House". I loved this print for many reasons, but because I am a doll lover I could not resist getting it. Three to six months later the dress, blouse and accessories arrived in my mailbox. Since then, I have purchased three or four more of her designs.  "Welcome To My Doll House" Lady Sloth uses many different materials, ranging from chiffon, organza, polyester, cotton and etc. I'm no seamstress and not really familiar with materials, but overall wearing the materials the dress is made from, I find the garments very comfortable to wear. I find some of her dresses and blouses do not have lace, and that so

The origin of high tea

The origin of High Tea Hello hello, I'm back from my heitis from blogging. Life has been bust since returning from Japan three years ago!!  and among other things. However, today's post I have been wanting to write about for a long while as it is one of my favourite activities while wearing Lolita fashion, and of course I am talking about the High Tea.  “There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea.” Henry James High Tea – it’s a great way to spend time catching up with friends with, but where did the tradition of High Tea originate from? We did some research and learned all about the delicious origins of this unique tradition. Next time you drink tea and bite into a freshly baked scone, considered that the first person to do just that, did it over 150 years ago!   The origins of High Tea While in Australia we call it High Tea, in England (where the tradition originated), it is known as Afternoon Tea.

My Homecoming Meet up: Welcome to the world of Beatrix Potter High Tea. Hello every one!! Here is a long awaited blog post. Things have been pretty hectic here back down under, and moving back home from Japan. Today I will be sharing my homecoming meet up that I organized. On Sunday the 3rd of August, my Lolita community and I went to Riversdale Estate Winery, where on the first Sunday of every month, they do a Beatrix Potter/ Peter Rabbit High Tea. It was also a great chance to catch up with everyone from my small, but awesome Lolita comm, and also meet new people as well who joined when I was away. We were seated in a warm sunlit room called "the orangery", decorated with floral décor, with a big flower display in the middle of the room, overlooking the winery on warm, clear winters day. We were served an assortment of sandwiches, little pasties, cakes, pastries and homemade scones serves with raspberry jam and whipped cream. We could also choose from a

Puroland and Lolita Fashion       Hello, back with another blog post. This time I wanted to talk about an outing a friend and I had to Sanrio Puroland, wearing Lolita fashion. For some of you who have not heard of Puroland- it's a theme park built to be an imaginary world of Hello Kitty and her friends. For example, Dear Daniel, My Melody, Kuromi, Pom Pom Purin, Little Twin Stars, Keroppi and etc.     Well anyway, I was down in Tokyo for my spring vacation, and I wanted to go to Puroland as I am a huge Hello Kitty fan. I also asked my friend if she wanted to join me and she said yes. So, we met at Puroland, took some photos and then entered the building. When we entered, we were bombarded with Japanese media wanting to interview us for a TV programme. We of course, also drew their attention because we were dressed in Lolita. Unfortunalty, one of the things about wearing alternate fashion, is that you draw unwanted attention from curios on lookers- and media. But,

Baby, the Stars Shine Bright Sendai, 14th anniversary tea party     Hello Everyone, and welcome to another blog post. I'm going to be telling you about the last brand event I went to in Sendai. You are probably thinking, why the last? Well, on the 24th of July, both my contract and visa expires, so therefore I have to move back home to Australia. So, without furthur a do, here is my story.        On the 20th of April, 2019, I attended my last ever brand event. It was held at the same place as usual, a cute place called `Nota Blanca`, in Ichibancho. As this was brand event number six that I went to, I was pretty proud about making it an even number to finish off with. We were shown to our seats, served a really nice selection of spring themed sweets. We were also asked to stand up and do a self introduction, and tell the other people attending, what we were wearing. As my turn came, I did my intro and outfit spill, then I also made a small speech that I was l

Lolita sub styles: part 2     In my last post I talked about the four most common sub styles. They were Old school/ Traditional, Sweet lolita, Classic lolita and Gothic lolita. This week, I'm going to expand on this and tell you about other substyles available. As you become more confident with lolita, you can start to experiment and take it further by adding as some would call a "theme", to your coord. Adding a theme is an outlet for more creativity, and you can also add handmade pieces to it as well. There is no "written rule" saying you have to stick to bought pieces. After all, fashion is a form of expression. So, enough of me rambling on................let's take a look at what you could do to make your coord more exciting!!       Aristocratic Lolita  This style is more considered a sister style to our friend " gothic lolita". Characteristics of Aristocratic style are dark colours such as black, deep navy blue, and also scar
