Lulu Hashimoto: The REAL living doll
Hellooooo everyone!! Today, I'm going to talk about Lulu Hashimoto- The REAL living doll of Japan!!
Other people on the internet, for whatever reason, have taken on the title of a living doll. This goes from the clothes they wear, how they do their make up, how they furnish their house, and the plastic surgery to even look the part. However, how would you feel with me telling you that 23 year old Japanese fashion designer, Hitomi Komaki has taken it one step even further, to produce a REAL living doll. She has always loved dolls, so therefore went ahead and designed a real life one and quoted as saying, “I have always really liked dolls and for me, the epitome of cuteness is dolls,”.
Lulu and designer Komaki recently appeared on the 100th episode of "Kawaii International". |
Lulu Hashimoto wears a body suit with ball joints air brushed on the suit where the "actual joint" would be on a doll. It looks like a suit, but moves like a human, but looks like a doll. On the "doll models" face, she wears a hand crafted mask, complete with make up and false eye lashes.

Lulu is essentially a "doll fashion model", and often dresses up in cute clothes to capture the real life kawaii doll aesthetic. This also includes lolita fashion!! The designer also organisers an event called a "Kawaii Cult", where everyone who loves all things cute dresses up, interprets and, expresses the word in so many different ways!! At the recent meet up two months ago, Lulu Hashimoto appeared and captivated the audience with her graceful and adorable ballet dance.
Lulu has attracted heaps of attention online; with both a huge following of her Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts.
As a Lolita fashion lover, wearer and enthusiast, I was really amazed and confused by this concept of a living doll at first. Especially, from a Japanese designer taking it one step further and making a person an "actual doll". However, I rather this concept to people doing plastic surgery to become dolls and doing all kinds harm to their bodies and makes them look more worse than "doll like".
It may also seem creepy, but in this case I can accept Lulu Hashimoto as a living doll, as she combines fashion and art at the same time and I respect peoples art, as art (and fashion) are a way to expressing yourself ( and your sole) to the world.
Ok, that's all from me rufflebutts!! Stay kawaii.........
