Times I've thought of quitting Lolita... Hi everyone, I'm back with another story. I wanted to share this because its been on my mind and I need it get it out. As you've probably guessed from the title, there have been times I have thought of quitting lolita...........Yes, quitting. This frustration all started when I ordered my one of my dream dresses from Haenuli. I've ordered previously from Haeluli and didn't have a problem. So when reservations opened for one of my dream dresses, I quickly reserved and paid my money. I waited for a month or two and at last, said dress shows up. I carefully take it out of the box and plastic it was wrapped in and went to try it on. It wouldn't fit over my breasts. I. was. devastated. A dress I was looking forward to for so long didn't fit my fat, foreigner body. I'd even bought accessories to go with this outfit...............So, with a feeling of disappointment, sadness and frustration, I carefully wrap...

The Petticoat Hello everyone, I'm back with another post!! Yay!! When I first started in Lolita fashion five years ago, one of the things I thought I could get away with was a PETTICOAT!! I thought my bum looked big enough as it was ,and did not need to increase the size, and make it bigger with a petticoat. BUT little did I know that I needed a petticoat to give the dress some SHAPE. Because I'm a plus sized Lolita, I don't need an overly large and poofy petticoat. However, some lolitas wear two or even three pettis underneath on the quest for their desired look they want to achieve One of the mistakes a lot of beginners make and often overlook is the petticoat. As I mentioned earlier, it gives the dress shape. This is important as it gives the look of the lolita aesthetic, and the iconic silhouette every one is familiar with. Beginners will often purchase a dress, minus the petti. If you're going to buy that dress you've had your eye on for ages, buy ...

Lulu Hashimoto: The REAL living doll Hellooooo everyone!! Today, I'm going to talk about Lulu Hashimoto- The REAL living doll of Japan!! Other people on the internet, for whatever reason, have taken on the title of a living doll. This goes from the clothes they wear, how they do their make up, how they furnish their house, and the plastic surgery to even look the part. However, how would you feel with me telling you that 23 year old Japanese fashion designer, Hitomi Komaki has taken it one step even further, to produce a REAL living doll. She has always loved dolls, so therefore went ahead and designed a real life one and quoted as saying, “I have always really liked dolls and for me, the epitome of cuteness is dolls,”. Lulu and designer Komaki recently appeared on the 100th episode of "Kawaii International". Lulu Hashimoto wears a body suit with ball joints air brushed on the suit where the "actual joint" would be o...

How to buy brand on a budget and brand new Hi all, in this blog post I want to talk about the purchasing of BRAND and INDIE BRAND and reasonably priced lolita pieces in general. When I tell people I'm into Lolita fashion, one of the questions I get asked the most is "Isn't Lolita expensive"?, well yes, it is. However, there are ways to save and afford the fashion weather you are a seasoned lolita who has been wearing the fashion for years, or a newbie to the fashion who is still learning. So, where to start.........most people start with the internet. INTERNET One website I recommend for buying brand and other indie brand pieces is Lace market . Lace market is the ebay of lolita fashion and accessories. I've purchased from Lace market in the past and have not had a problem. However, be cautious, as with ebay, be cautious with internet sellers in general, and always check the feedback section to check the sellers r...

Living the Lolita lifestyle in everyday life: MUSIC!! Hello everyone. It's been a while since my last post. Well, in this post I thought I would write about one of my loves to survive in everyday life; in my Lolita life that is. I'm talking about music of course. Over the years, Lolita fashion has gone further than "just wearing the clothes and tea parties". The Lolita aesthetic has also made it's way into music. So, I well be discussing various music artists\ idols that have incorporated Lolita fashion into their music, as well as a few other mentions of other pioneers of kawaii culture in general. Kyary Pamyu Pamyu The first one I would like to talk about is of course, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu (KPP). KPP jumped into the fashion scene working as a model for KERA magazine and Zipper. She released her first single PON PON in August 2011, drawing inspiration from overseas artists such as Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera and Katy Perry. Her music is cute with he...

B aby A nniversary Cele b rate Histor y Christmas lolita event On Saturday the 15th of December, I attended the Baby, the Stars Shine Bright "Baby Anniversary celebrate history" event. The event was pretty similar to what I had attended before (I've written a previous blog about what happens at a brand event, so I'm not going to go into too much detail about what happened). About twelve months ago BtSSB designers came to Sendai for an anniversary event. So I got to meet the designers for the second time. It was the usual scenario, we got to ask the designers questions, eat a nice meal consisting of Christmas themed desserts and all you can drink beverages. There was also a raffle to win brand, and a display of what new dresses and accessories that are going to be available for reservation. Then after the event at the cafe finished, we walked over to the BtSSB shop to make purchases, and use an event space at the department store that wa...

Harajuku Fashion Walk Hey everyone, I'm back with another long awaited post. To allow me to indulge in my Lolita fashion to the fullest, I have made an effort to travel to Tokyo and participate in the Harajuku Fashion Walk (HFW). These walks usually happen on the fourth Sunday of every month, starting at 2 pm. In summer, they start at 4pm. You can confirm dates and times in this link here https://twitter.com/harajuku_fw?lang=en , incase they are subject to change. I participted in my first ever HFW in April this year. The weather was lovely, it was spring and there were cherry blossoms blooming everywhere. I arrived at the Takeshita dori entrance, feeling very nervous and did not know what to expect. As I waited, people in Harajuku fashion began to gradually trickle in and eager for the walk to begin. The walk is organized and run by fashionista, Junnyan. Junnyan is the face of the HFW with the quest to keep Harajuku fashion alive. He dedicates his Sundays lea...
